Given Metro's seemingly endless recent distractions, as some can characterize them, about "safety", why the bleepity-bleep does VERIZON WIRELESS still enjoy its effective monopoly on cell phone access wtih Metrorail tunnels and most of the system's underground stations. How is universal carrier access not a mater of safety? Can someone, esp. any among Metro's bloated 200 person IT staff, explain why it's more important to sit around designing apps while the average parton can't even alert Metro police about "suspicious" activity until she reaches one of the few stations with universal access? What's happened to Metro's mid-2009 to equip ALL stations with universal access by February, 2010? As some have wondered, not me, who's (still) getting the kickback? I just want to not have to cower in fear, hoping I'll make it to a full-service station the next time a group of rowdy teens terrorizes my car, ever again.
