Please update your LIRR post. What you described is their Coach Service on the Cannonball. Hamptons Reserve requires a reservation, but for an additional $18 you are guaranteed a seat, a clean bathroom and an attendant that will bring a drink/snack to your seat! They take seasonal reservations. This is the way to go. Tip - if you can get to Hunterspoint Ave Station(use #7) it's a more pleasant experience. http://mta.info/lirr/Hamptons/ReserveService.htm
